horray! happy st. patty’s day!  one of the very very best days of the year, and i’m not just saying that because i’m an irish girl (and lord knows, everyone loves an irish girl)….

st patty’s day is one of those fantastic holidays that EVERYONE, regardless of race, sex, ethnicity, religion, or belief system celebrates proudly. its the day that everyone is irish, and even the girliest of girls will shoot jameson without hesitation.

that being said, today is the day to leave work early, and get out there and have a fantastic time with your dearest friends, your newest acquaintances, or the random guys at the bar shouting dirty irish limericks at the top of their lungs.

i’m all for letting loose and having a good time… but being that i’m a runner and a bit of a health fanatic, one thing i like to keep in mind is WHAT i’m drinking.  DONT get me wrong… YES i will have an irish car bomb. YES i will have Guinness (or 4). BUT i do think it’s important to be somewhat educated on the calories your taking in.

so here is a little guide to your st. patty’s day calories…

  • Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: 175
  • Sam Adams Lager: 160
  • Pilsner Uruqell: 160
  • Michelob: 155
  • Guinness: 153
  • Heineken: 150
  • Corona: 148
  • Budweiser: 145
  • MGD: 143
  • Stella Artois: 140
  • Bud Light: 110
  • Coors Light: 102
  • Budweiser Select: 99
  • Michelob Ultra: 96
  • Amstel Light: 95
  • Miller Genuine Draft Light: 64
  • Anchor Steam: 153
  • Bass Ale: 160
  • Beck’s: 140
  • Budweiser: 140
  • Corona Light: 105
  • Guinness Draught: 126
  • Guinness Stout: 153
  • Miller Lite: 96
  • Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: 175
  • Sierra Nevada Stout: 210

yumz.

just had the most amazing post work out dinner. steamed tofu & veggies with tons of sriracha and hot chinese mustard

…and for dessert, a quarter cup of 0% Fage, with a coupla strawberries, coupla scoops of raw oats, raw hazelnuts, drizzle of honey and sprinkle of cinnamon.

dinner was satisfying, dessert was AMAZING.

i forgot my running shoes. i’m so annoyed that i cant even begin to tell you.

i’m in sunny so cal, and i cant run. between the expo, meetings and taking clients out, i can only run in the morning, and target (a 10 minute cab ride) opens at 8, but i meet my boss at nine. then sunday we have an early flight, so it’s not worth running around for one run tomorrow…

i’ve never forgotten my shoes. hairspray… i forget every time. once, i forgot underwear. my kicks? never. i am so upset.

the only silver lining to all of this, is that i AM at natural products expo west and i WILL be walking from 9am to 5pm non-stop, for two days. it’s not a relaxing outside sunny run, but at least i’m active and not sitting at a desk all day.

boo hoo.

disclaimer:

i would like to clear up some information that i was, well, un-clear about.

my previously said, “non-relationship” is a relationship that is current. it (despite common belief) is not a previous relationship from when i was in college.

part of being un-named is to give respect and anonymityto the person who i may or may not be discussing in future blogs. they did not choose to create a public profile. they did not wish to have anyone who can use a search bar know the intimate details of their dating life. the un-named does not even like if there are pictures of him of facebook/myspace/tumblr.

with all that being said, i will continue to be relitively unclear and vague when discussing my non, out of respect for him.

but out of respect for a dear friend, that i care very very much for, i would like to make it very clear that the “non-relationship” i am in is with a man that does not live in wyoming. does not have a single friend with firey red hair. and is not a bartender.

i hope i’ve set some things straight.

weekend sins

so yesterday i decided to celebrate spring with a magnum bottle of champagne. okay, okay, two.

saturday i went to the non’s house and played beer pong and watched movies while drinking pbr.

friday i met my bff and soon-to-be business partner for a couple of beers and a brainstorming session.

that’s 3 days of drinking. that’s god-only-knows how many calories. that’s a slap in the face to the quickly approaching bikini season.

well, i can say that i’ll change. that i’ll stop going out on the weekends until my goal weight is reached. but lets be honest… restrictive diets dont work. and i like to go out, so trying to force myself to stay in just wont work for me. so i make sacrifices elsewhere.

i think weekend sins should be rectified monday. start fresh. start renewed. remind yourself that you ARE a healthy person, and you like being a healthy person. that’ll set you up for the whole week.

because of my particularly high weekend calorie count, today is a double work out day, and back on track with eating right.

for breakfast (9am) i had 2 cups of coffee (black… my coffee is always black, no sweeteners or sugars) a cup of cheerios with a half a banana, skim milk, fresh ground flax seed, and cinnamon in it. then i had one extra small hard boiled egg (roughly the size of a large gumball)

then at 1 i went running

at 2 i had one can of tuna (from water, not oil!) with salt, pepper, tons of cayenne pepper, and another small egg (they come in 2 packs) all mixed together, eaten alone. and a half an apple for desert.

around 4 i had the other half of my banana and a handful of cashews.

when i get home tonight, i’ll have my second workout. p90x.

when i’m done working out (around 7) i will likely still be full from my 4pm snack, and just have a cup of tea. if that’s not the case and i AM hungry, i’ll likely have my always-ready back up dinner… a veggie burger with my homemade guilt-free cream sauce (a tablespoon of 0% Fage Greek Yogurt with a table spoon of sriracha sauce and a tablespoon of cayenne pepper).

i love high fat foods. alot. nuts, avocado, and olive oil are meal staples for me, so to make up for those calories, i try to stay away from sweets and processed carbohydrates as much as possible. hence why i dont normally have bread with my tuna or veggie burgers… actually, outside of cereal, i rarely have anything made with flour.

during the week i typically dont drink anything other than coffee, water and tea (sub holiday’s, special occasion’s, and non dates/fights). and i drink alot of water (at least a gallon a day). i also dont drink any soda, ever. i dont let artificial sweeteners near me, and i always avoid “diet foods” that are filled with random chemical nonsense. i eat clean whole foods.

i also eat alot. i tell you, i’m obsessed with food. but as long as you eat alot of healthy food, in the correct portions, scattered throughout the day, i think its okay. but, i’m a natural and organic foods broker, not a dietitian. and this is what works for me.

i love these designers. they’re fabulous. they found a way to take couture and make it into daily wear (fall 2010 jackets done particularly well).  while this is a line i certainly cannot afford at this point in my life, they’re definitely a line to mimic, and to keep a close eye on.

the below photo is from their spring 2010 collection. unlike many of the 2010 designs, most of these are form fitting, however, they still keep in que with excessive material and contrasting lines.  they just do it in the most fabulously chic way.

go. look. hurry.
